A Minnesota man and his companion were walking along a trail at night when a tragedy occurred. Sadly, only one of the two pedestrians survived the incident. The other was transported to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Investigators believe ATV driver may have been intoxicated
When a 50-year-old man and his 35-year-old companion were strolling along a trail together, they were suddenly struck by an ATV that appeared to be moving at high speed. The initial force of impact in the collision sent the pedestrians over a steep embankment. The man suffered fatal injuries, although the woman he was with at the time survived. Rescuers took her to a local hospital for emergency care. Police said that they believe alcohol was a causal factor of the collision.
More than one person was on the ATV
The ATV operator was carrying a passenger when his vehicle struck the pedestrians. Both the ATV driver and the passenger were ejected from the vehicle upon impact. By the time rescuers arrived at the scene, the ATV operator had already been transported to a hospital in a private vehicle. Both he and his passenger suffered severe injuries.
